The Swingtime dance band is an all-volunteer, non-profit, 18-20 piece dance band (40's & 50's style), affiliated with the Melbourne Municipal Band, serving East Central Florida. Founded in 1988 by Conductor Clair Christy, Swingtime holds monthly big band style dances in the Melbourne Auditorium. Although Swingtime is composed of volunteer musicians, a small admission fee is charged to raise funds to support the MMB's operating expenses. The Band also does contract jobs or private parties, and has also performed at major hotels around central Florida, as well as at Walt Disney World.
